Torsten Enzio Richter is dedicated to the drawn reproduction – apparently in the meticulous way of the old masters – of various everyday objects or items, which partly come out of use – such as a scythe, a pitchfork or a silencer. Richter is less interested by the typology of things, as it was initiated by the photography of the Becher School – his objects assert themselves more by the sacral composition of the drawing: The objects are placed centrally and enlarged into the whiteness of the paper; they draw attention to the simple functionality of the appliances and their surprising sensory properties.
